Core KPI
Optimization
There are two way
for optimization of network:
1) Capacity
optimization
2) Database
optimization
!!Here we are talking
about database optimization!!
Process involved in
database optimization:
1) Measure
– Need to check all measurement are proper or not at switch end.
2) Analyze
- Analyze the reports to find out root cause of degradation of KPIs.
3) Optimize
– based on analysis share the scope of optimization in database.
4) Implement
– and after mutual agreement with the customer implement the changes.
KPI optimization: Mainly
5 KPI at core side on which we have to work.
1) LUSR
2) ASR
3) CSR
4) PSR
5) HOSR
6) SMS
deposit rate
LUSR (Location update
success rate):
Reason for degradation of
LUSR:
1) Problem
in IMSI analysis definition.
2) Problem
in GT analysis/SCCP database.
3) Problem
in PLMN parameter definition.
4) Lack of
roaming tie-ups.
5) Weak
coverage at entry points.
Method for improvement of
LUSR:
1) Check
the definition of IMSI analyses and correct wrong & missing IMSI
definition.
2) Check
the definition of GT analyses and correct wrong & missing GT definition.
3) Make
roaming tie-ups with partners wherever it’s required.
4) Improve
cell coverage at entry points.
CSR:/ASR improvement
dependent:
1) MSRN
definition needs to be correct
2) Digit
analysis/normalization Issue --- CSR
3) Congestion
--- CSR/ASR
4) Routing
destination --- CSR/ASR
5) Far end
congestion ---- CSR/ASR
6) Far end
call failure --- CSR/ASR
7) Signaling
link load congestion ---- CSR
8) Dual
seizure (heavy congestion) ---- CSR/ASR
9) CIC
mismatch ---CSR /ASR
10) Circuit
congestion
Failures:
Internal(BSC) <.2%
External failure <3%
Subs failures <3%
PSR: (Paging success
rate):
Page: when subscriber
location is know
Search: when subscriber
location is unknown
Page repetition: 2 levels
VLR: first on TMSI second
on IMSI
MSC: any number of times
with TMSI/IMSI
Page parameter in MSC:
1) Re-paging
attempts
2) Re-paging
interval
3) Paging
method
Paging method:
1) CGI :
CI+LAC+MNC+MCC
2) CLI :
CI+LAC
3) LAI :
LAC+MCC+MNC
4) LAC :
LAC
5) ALL :
ALL CELL IN MSC/BSC
All above method are best
in use
PSR improvement:
1) Subscriber
density of LAC is high -- redefine the LAC boundaries
2) Signaling
load .2 Erlg
3) LAPD
signaling if congested need to be increase
4) Remove
unnecessary cell & BSC from MSS
PSR analysis:
1) Analyze
whether PSR DIP in VOICE PSR or NON-VOICE PSR.
5) Analyze
subscriber distribution in LAC and target to higher density LAC for
distributing the subscriber.
6) Take
the trace on radio clear code: 12,205, B13, B16, and B1B & B1C.
7) LAC
wise SDCCH ASR (Assignment success rate) for Busy Hour so that we could map the
same with low performing LACs on PSR and populate the same. -
8) LAP D
congestion report to be correlated with poor performing LACs.
9) And
last are the TIMERS in Switch.
NOTE:
10) NON-
VOICE PSR depend on SMS attempts & delivery if Attempt is high than poor
NON voice ASR. - Practically I have seen it.
11) SDCCH
ASR is one of the KPI which do impact on PSR – RF should maintain SDCCH
ASR NBH at the best
SMS:
SMS success rate =
(successful submit SM/total submit SM)*100
Reason for optimization:
MO SMS:
1) Wrong
service centre address
2) Incorrect
GT analysis (routing)
3) ODB
4) IN
barring
5) T22 not
provisioned
6) Congestion
7) Unknown
subscriber (A party in SMSC)
Reason for optimization
MT SMS:
1) Call
cleared by operator
2) MAP
failure (VLR)
3) IMSI
detach (absent Subs)
4) Paging
failure
5) Radio
interface failure
6) Unidentified
subscriber
7) SMS
memory full
HOSR:-
Improvement Plan -
1)
Updating & Optimising Neighbours List.
2)
Removing Neighbours which have fewer no of HOs and cells
having poor HOSR,
3)
Avoid same BCCH+BSIC Combination.
